Study Duration: one semester or more
Applicant Eligibility
?Non-Chinese citizen in good health over 18.
?Bachelor’s degree holders or undergraduates.
?HSK 4 with the score of or above 180.
Note: Applicants who fail to meet the requirement about Chinese proficiency should take one year Chinese course before the visiting program begins.
Documents Required
?Application Form to Southwest University (in duplicate, including one photocopy).
?Photocopies of bachelor’s degree diploma and transcript or undergraduate academic transcript. Such documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized copies in Chinese or English (in duplicate, including one photocopy).
?Photocopy of HSK certificate or other certificates of Chinese proficiency.
?Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors with their signatures.
?Study and research plan in English or Chinese (not less than 800 words).
?CD of works. Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of their own works; applicants for fine arts are requested to submit a CD of their own works (including two sketches, two color paintings and two other works).
?Published academic papers or other academic achievements (original or photocopy, if any).
?Two recent photos (white background, in passport size). Please write down the applicant’s name and major at the back of the photo.
?Photocopy of the applicant’s passport.
?Two photocopies of Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (Applicants keep the original form for study visa application).
Application & Recruitment Procedures
Online Application and Admission Procedures:
?Log onto the website of SWU online application for international students (https://swu.17gz.org/member/login.do). Complete steps including online name registration, password setting, and verification code input, etc.;
?Click “Download” on the website of SWU online application for international students (https://swu.17gz.org/member/login.do), and download “Application Form Southwest University” and “Physical Examination Form for Foreigner”;
?Fill in “Application Form to Southwest University”. Take physical exam at local public hospital as requested. Applicants should follow exam items to take physical examination. Please note that any physical exam form with missing items or without photograph, official seal of the hospital or signature of the doctor will be considered as invalid document. Since the result of the physical exam is valid for six months, please arrange the examination time accordingly to make sure the result is good for application;
?Log into the website (https://swu.17gz.org/member/login.do), then fill in/select certain information, and upload required application documents;
?Confirm information filled in/selected and documents uploaded, and click “Submit”;
?Southwest University evaluates the application materials and decides on the enrollment name list;
?Southwest University announces the name list of the successful applicants on the website of http://www.scfqjr-tour.com, and notifies them by emails;
?Applicants admitted remit application fee CNY 400 to Southwest University bank account;
?“Admission Notice” and “Visa Application for Study in China” (JW202 form) are to be mailed to applicants admitted by the end of June every year.
Traditional Application and Admission Procedures:
?Applicants need to either download the “Application Form to Southwest University” and “Foreigner Physical Examination Form” from the download center of the website http://www.scfqjr-tour.com, or contact the International Students Admission Office of SWU for such documents;
?Fill in the Application Form to Southwest University and do physical examination at the local public hospital as requested. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Physical Examination Record for Foreigner. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration as they plan to take the medical examination.
?Prepare the other application documents requested and send the full package of application documents to the International Students Admission Office, Southwest University.
?Southwest University evaluates application documents and decides on the enrollment name list.
?Southwest University announces the name list of the successful applicants on the website of http://www.scfqjr-tour.com, notifies them by emails.
?Applicants admitted remit application fee CNY 400 to Southwest University bank account.
?“Admission Notice” and “Visa Application for Study in China” (JW202 form) are to be mailed to applicants admitted by the end of June every year.
Note: The application documents will NOT be returned regardless of the result of application.
Application Date Window
?Beginning date for application: January 1 every year.
?Application deadline: Before June 15 every year, applicants must either complete the online application or mail all the application documents to the International Students Admission Office of Southwest University (date is subject to the local mail stamp chop in terms of airmail).
Accommodation Information
?Double-bed room at international students’ dormitory on campus (shared by two): CNY 5000/semester/person, CNY 9000/year/person.
?Single-bed room at international students’ dormitory on campus: CNY 7000/ semester, CNY 12000/year.
Note: International students can rent rooms on/off campus with the help of International College.
